The National Library of Latvia, in cooperation with regional libraries, launches the project supported by the State Culture Capital Foundation "Towards "500 Years of Latvian Books" in the regions of Latvia: publishing and distribution of texts in the past and now", as part of the theme of 2023 – distribution of ideas and publishing of books – of the programme "500 Years of Latvian Books", especially highlighting the 150th anniversary of the Latvian publisher Ansis Gulbis.
The purpose of the project is to shed light on the book industry processes and events in the regions of Latvia.
From April to December 2023, the National Library of Latvia in cooperation with the main libraries of Jelgava, Valmiera, Bauska, Valka, Liepāja, Limbaži and Daugavpils region will organize a wide programme of events with different activities.
