Seminar "Personality of Augusts Ģiezens and evidence of his work at the National Library"

On 16 November 2023, the National Library of Latvia (NLL) closed the cycle of seminars "Meeting in texts. Antique literature and its translation into Latvian. Augusts Ģiezens – 135" with the seminar "Personality of Augusts Ģiezens and evidence of his work at the National Library" dedicated to the personality of classical philologist, linguist, educator and translator of antique literature Augusts Ģiezens (1888-1964) and evidence of his work at the National Library (now NLL). The seminar was led by Kristīne Zaļuma, head of NLL Lettonica and Baltic Centre. The benefits of the cycle of seminars were summarised and evaluated together with listeners by the head of the Department of Classical Philology of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Latvia, associate professor Gita Bērziņa, professor Ilze Rūmniece, assistant professors Ilona Gorņeva un Brigita Cīrule.
