Monograph "Vidzeme Manors and their Libraries"

The National Library of Latvia (NLL) has published the monograph "Vidzeme Manors and their Libraries" by Kristīne Zaļuma, historian, Head of the Latvian Studies and Baltic Centre of the NLL.

Two volumes and a booklet of the monograph identify, systematize and study for the first time the manors of the Latvian part of Vidzeme and their libraries. The book describes the socio-economic conditions of the manors, analyses social background of the inhabitants, as well as the administrative-territorial affiliation of the manors, and the categories of land properties over the course of several centuries, thus providing for an opportunity to reflect the libraries as part of the extensive and rich history of Latvian manors.
